This privacy policy will explain how we use the personal data we collect from you when you use our website.
What data do we collect?
Counter collects the following data
- Your username
- An encrypted password
- Domains which where used to access web pages containing your personalized tracking script.
- Your browser's time zone, a preference that can be changed in the account settings.
Your personalized tracking script aggregates the following statistical information of your users.
- The day of the week (As in: Monday, Tuesday, ...)
- Your users device (As in Phone, Tablet or Computer)
- The date of the visit
- From which other website a visit originated.
- The users browser (As in: Firefox, Chrome, Microsoft Edge, ...)
- The hour compontent of the current time in a day
- A country mapped to the users IP address.
- The users operating system (As in: Windows or Mac)
- Information on the users screen size
- The users preferred language
- Pages visited
These data points are saved anonymously in our primary database aggregated on a hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, yearly and overall basis. Counter deletes hourly, daily, weekly and monthly statistics after a certain time period. You can e.g. access data from this month, but not data from last month. We try to improve your users privacy by "forgetting" their data as time passes. We do not keep single data points on your users but only statistical, that is aggregated data.
As of the 19. Sept 2022 we introduced historical archives persisting daily data permamentally in a separate database. This daily data can be queried aggregated by a specific date range.
How do we collect your data?
You directly provide Counter with most of the data we collect. We collect data and process data when you
- Register online.
- Write us an email.
- Change the account settings.
- Include your personalized tracking script in a web page which is visited by other users.
How do we store your data?
Counter securely stores your data with our hosting provider, Linode LLC. We use server resources and services hosted in Frankfurt, Germany.
Counter may keep some of your data indefinitely. If you do not need your data anymore, we recommend permanently deleting it in the account settings. We may delete your data automatically if you stop using the service for longer than one year.
What are your data protection rights?
Counter would like to make sure you are fully aware of all of your data protection rights. Every user is entitled to the following:
The right to access - You have the right to request Counter for copies of your personal data. We may charge you a small fee for this service.
The right to rectification - You have the right to request that Counter correct any information you believe is inaccurate. You also have the right to request Counter to complete information you believe is incomplete.
The right to erasure - You have the right to request that Counter erase your personal data, under certain conditions.
The right to restrict processing - You have the right to request that Counter restrict the processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.
The right to object to processing - You have the right to object to Counter's processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.
The right to data portability - You have the right to request that Counter transfer the data that we have collected to another organization, or directly to you, under certain conditions.
